Q&A: i am going to die like this, i need serious help?

i have nothing and no one. no family, no friends, no money, nowhere to go, nowhere to live. i have been struggling with homelessness since i was 12 and i have been living in my car for the past couple of years. i am in oklahoma and it is hot and ******* miserable living in a car. i really just want to die. at this point i don’t have very long anyways. i can only find employment at pizza hut since it is the only place on the face of the earth that seems to want to hire me. i have been a manager and worked full time making a whopping 8.75 an hour. with these wages, i still cannot manage to save up enough or be able to afford getting into an apartment or even a crappy “cheap” room for rent. i can’t even find one anyways. there is nothing here but wilderness.

with all the gas i spend going to work and living next to a lake (since it is the only place i can bathe) i manage to have maybe 80 bucks left at the end of the month and i usually have to end up spending it on gas or something else later. i recently just lost my job so i have no income at all now. i am on food stamps and even while i work i still can’t afford to live or do anything and i never have enough to eat all month. i have tried the whole “find a shelter or church or food bank” thing and that isn’t going anywhere because there is nothing here for miles around. i have been to the ER for starving 2 times this year. i nearly died because my kidneys were shutting down. i need serious help and i don’t get to go online often. the government has failed me, there is no help for me from “human services”, i only get food stamps. i live in the middle of nowhere, and there really is no help in sight. none. none at all. i can’t find anything and i have exhausted everything that i can possibly imagine. i am going to waste away and die a sad, miserable, and lonely existence. there is nothing else i can do and i do not have a choice. the best i can do with my life is probably kill somebody so that i can spend the rest of my life in prison. that is all i have to hope for.

i live near idabel, oklahoma and my only hope is to find somewhere hours away or in another state but i am not really getting anywhere after endless phone calls and internet searches. i need a shelter or transitional housing that will accept me with no income (i am a single 27 year old female with no children), i have gone through nightmare abuse, violence, and nearly been killed 6 times, but nothing recent because i have been alone for so long. i have never had a real relationship of any kind my entire life and the only places i have ever lived were with drug addicts at flophouses, or abandoned places or outside by myself. i have been in situations where i had to live off of eating garbage, cactus, frogs, birds, snakes, rodents, wild fruit and plants and all kinds of other things that normal people don’t have to do. i do not have mental or drug problems but i am really depressed and at this point i am pretty careless about living. i am profoundly intelligent and gifted & talented. i hold national academic records and my iq places me in the top 1% of the nation. i had to drop out of school in 8th grade so this isn’t getting me very far. my life is a big lonely steaming pile of **** and i have never been able to attend college. i do have a GED with perfect scores and i was told by an instructor that the essay i wrote for it is the best in the country. i do not need advice or happy encouragement, it is very empty and it doesn’t get me anywhere. i need real resources that i can use in real life. PLEASE help me. PLEASE. if anyone gives a **** whether i live or die it will be a random helpful stranger on the internet.
@ secret: thanks for your well wishes. i used to live in california as well and it is absolutely nothing like oklahoma. i have applied to every single job posting in a 250 mile radius. there is nothing here. it is nothing but wilderness or indian land. there is ONE (yes, just ONE) road that goes through 2 tiny towns (broken bow and idabel) and that is it for hours of driving in any direction. i have applied to everything, whether i qualify for it or not. i haven’t recieved a single phone call. getting a job will not help me. getting at least 2 or 3 jobs will get me on the right track. there are no jobs, there is no life here. it is beyond rural and beyond hopeless. please help me find a way out.

ok i am in california so i do not know anything about oklahoma. i cant offer you anything but i think you should try to get a job in ALL the restaurants or fast food joints in your area. at least one of them will accept you since you were a manager and have great experience. i dont know you or even your name but i sincerely hope you get a job and are happy in life. you seem like a hard working person and very deserving. you will find somebody, and wont be alone for the rest of your life. my prayers are with you.

Doing a research paper on Depression, need better resources?

Question by The Silent Ninja: Doing a research paper on Depression, need better resources?
I’m doing a paper on depression for one of my classes. We picked our own topics from our book. The guidelines for the paper are that the paper must be 5 pages long (no more, no less) and I must use 5 resources (either 5 hard copy publications or 3 hard copies and 2 internet resources). Also, we cannot use any resource that has a publication date of 2001 or earlier.

My problem is that all of the books I’ve found in my University’s library that are of proper publication date go WAY too in depth for a 5 page paper. Most of them focus on the different types of depression and look at depression from different stand points (such as from a medical view, what physically happens in your brain when you have depression, etc.).

Does anybody have any hard copy resources they recommend that gives a very general explanation on depression?

The basic points that I want to touch on with my paper are:
1. What is depression?
2. Who is affected by depression?
3. What are the symptoms of depression?
4. What can you do to treat depression?

Basically, I’m hitting the very tip of the iceberg.

look for journals and articles that your library subscribes to. I’ve done this for some of my own research and some of them are very interesting and most are good sources.

i think another thing that you should think about is narrowing down your topic from “depression” to something about depression.
