Fearless Putin Dives 4600 feet to the Bottom of Worlds Largest & Deepest Lake Baikal
NEWS YOU WON’T FIND ON CNN Vladamir Putin is possibly the most popular leader in Russian history, although you’d never know it by reading the western media. According to a survey conducted by the Wall Street Journal, Putin’s personal approval rating was 85% making him the most popular leader in the world. Putin’s popularity derives from many factors. He is personally clever and charismatic. He worked tirelessly to improve the lives of ordinary Russians and restore the country to its former greatness. He has raised over 20 million Russians out of grinding poverty, improved education, health care and the pension system, (partially) nationalized critical industries, lowered unemployment, increased manufacturing and exports, invigorated Russian markets, strengthened the ruble, raised the overall standard of living, reduced government corruption, jailed or exiled the venal oligarchs, and amassed capital reserves of 0 billion. Its interesting to observe to what extent the western media is nothing more than a propaganda bullhorn for the Neocons forces. Putin’s personal approval ratings already confirm his enormous popularity, but the western media continues to treat him like he’s a tyrant. It is completely incongruous. Russia is no longer up for grabs like it was after the fall of the Soviet Union. Putin put an end to all of that. He reasserted control over the country’s vast resources and he’s using them to improve the lives of his own people. This is a real departure from …

Fission is the New Fire

Google Tech Talks April 16, 2007 ABSTRACT There are many common misconceptions about nuclear power that can be proven to be false, even among people with a variety of opinions. For example, it is often stated that nuclear power plants are very large and cost at least a couple of billion dollars. However, ever since there have been nuclear power plants, there have been some that have been small enough to fit inside submarines. One of those submarines is only 12 feet in diameter and could fit on half of a football field. It has also been said that nuclear power plants must operate at a nearly constant power level, yet they can power both submarines and aircraft carriers through extreme maneuvers….

Press TV-On the Edge with Max Keiser-US Stock Markets-22-10-2010-(Part2)
This program is about the bursting of the predictions that bubble in the stock markets. The guest, Rick Ackerman, says that the market is very fragile and it is inherited from the past economic mistakes. The US government is blamed for creating such mammoth bubble by helping the creditors after the 2007 financial crisis. If debtors and foreclosure-hit house owners were aided, today the economy would be back on its feet. The US housing market and fraud allegation is also a hot-button issue in this program. The guest says the dollar would finally collapse and such a collapse would be sudden, without any advance warning. He is, however, upbeat about the future of resource-based countries like Canada and Australia.

A Prisoner In My Own Home

A Prisoner In My Own Home

I feel compelled to explain this one.
Apartment buildings in Egypt have what are called baowabs – building managers, essentially, who make sure that repairs get made and the rent gets collected. Yesterday afternoon, I answered a knock at my door to find our baowab standing there with a doorknob in his hand.
The door to our bedroom had been broken for weeks, and I found it suspicious that he should appear now to fix it, just a few minutes after my fiance had left the building. Still, I wanted to door fixed, so I let him in – but left the front door open, for my own comfort.
After fifteen minutes or so, he announced that he was finished, and requested that I come into the room, close the door, and check. Immediately my danger sense went into red alert. I’ve always found this man creepy – he blatantly watches any move his tenants make, openly staring at them as they come and go, watching where they walk, and who they get into a car with. If the door didn’t work, I’d be essentially trapped in the room with him. And he was holding a big screwdriver.
"It works? Thanks!" I said cheerfully, remaining a few feet on the other side of the door.
I found out later that as my fiance was leaving, the baowab had asked him for the rent. Benn said that he wasn’t going to pay until the door was fixed. So, the timing did have some logic to it. Do I really believe that this man’s intentions towards me were malicious? Probably not; just because you’re creepy doesn’t necessarily mean you’re dangerous. But there’s a possibility that if I had gone into that room, I would’ve regretted it for the rest of my life.
The epilogue came this morning, when he came again to collect the rent. I was home alone, I didn’t have the rent money, and knowing it was him knocking, I didn’t answer the door. He continued knocking for at least five minutes, and came back every fifteen minutes or so to try again. During a lull, I quietly walked over to the door and slipped the chain in place.
