Working top to bottom through their reasons:

1) Any credit you have has only been opened a short or insufficient time which does not enable them to make a determination of your overall capability of paying the card.
2) You’ve applied for too many cards in the recent past and they are afraid you may be or capable of running up credit balances.
3) Any cards you may own either have very high balances (in relation to your credit limit) or have not been used enough to create a history (see number 1)
4) You’ve only been making minimum payments on any cards you do have (this can indicate financial problems in paying back creditors).

i applied for a job in the Department of the Army, the closing date was yesterday 25 Mar 09. I just want to know how long will it take to hear something from them and how is the interview process go. I heard its a panel of interviewers. I applied for the position of a Human Resource Specialist which is the same job i had in the Army for 5 years. I seperated after serving my time on 1 Mar 09. If im not in the top peolple they want to interview would i know about it?

Some info depends on how you applied. Did you apply online through USAJobs? If so, there’s a good chance you can track your progress online.

Unfortunately it has seemed lately that the hiring process has been taking longer than people would expect. There is the interview process (if they interview), security background check, drug testing (sometimes – that alone usually takes 3 weeks from start to finish), etc.

There is also the possibility you won’t hear anything at all unfortunately.

If I were you, I would first go back online and see if you can check the status of your application – that may be the only notification you ever receive if you don’t get any notifications.

But you can also check the job announcement again – perhaps they listed a point of contact in there somewhere. I’d wait a couple weeks or more from the closing date, and then you could call just to check the status if you really want to know.

Can someone provide a little guidance to help me with my Graduate School Dilemma?

Question by : Can someone provide a little guidance to help me with my Graduate School Dilemma?
First I’ll provide a little background: I obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology. It wasn’t until the First Semester of my Senior Year that I realized I had not desire to become a Therapist and didn’t want to become a Researcher either. Uh oh! I thought about switching my major, to Management with an concentration in Human Resources, but being I was already a Senior, switching that late in the game would just be money down the drain. I looked a little further into what I could do and came across Industrial and Organizational Psychology and found that it was right up my alley. I was looking to go into that, but then I fell ill and wound up not completing the GRE and application process on time in order to go the fall after graduation. I couldn’t find a job/jobs that would allow me to pay all bills and had to move back with my parents, to a different state. A state that does not off I/O Psych in any of it’s universities. So, I considered getting a Master in Human Resources right? That’s not offered either. Okay, MBA… they don’t offer a Generalized MBA and the concentration are in areas that I’m not terribly interested in- Finance, Economics, Marketing and Accounting are the only options. Now I’m really confused on what to do. I already have a good amount of Student Loan Debt so going out of state, which is more expensive really scares me… even higher debt!
The level of rudeness of some people in here just never ceases to amaze me! Just because I didn’t list where I am currently working does not mean that you should just assume that I have no job. I work a full-time job, in my field, that actually does pay pretty well ($ 17/hr), and I have a part-time job too. With the two jobs, I make a good amount of money, but I don’t like either job and do not want to work them for the rest of my life. All I really wanted help with was deciding if an MBA in one of those other concentrations (not Human Resources) was a good idea. If not, than what? Is going out-of-state for I/O Psych a good idea? That was all I really wanted to know. Your Unsolicited Advice about getting a job, and rude comments about my choice of Undergraduate Studies did not even come close to solving my problem!
Oh, and I also worked from the time I was 15 years of age. I worked very part-time at Burger King then. When I was 16 I moved onto a Convenience Store and worked 30 hours a week while still attending High School. At 17, I worked 35 hours per week while still in High School. At 18 I worked 40 hours per week, after school, and still went to class every day while in High School. I continued to work full-time, as an Assistant Manager while I went to college, full-time! I have a lot of Work Experience. I am not at all afraid to work and I always contribute to my family! Don’t think, just by reading a very brief introduction, that you know someone, because you don’t!

You’re in deep trouble. This is what comes of not listening to advice warning you against a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology.

You now have several options:

Taco Bell (They’re hiring)
The Military
Sign Twirler (if you have the hand-eye coordination)
Mall Cop
